about

Miraschi (short for Miranda Schildermans), was born November 17, 1967, Belgium.

Already as a child, Miraschi had a strong passion for drawing and experimenting with different materials. Her strong beliefs in justice, made her study Political Science, after which she started a career in social services.

After several art courses, she enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts to further develop her passion for the arts.

In her artworks you find a combination of social awareness and mystique. The works are quite introvert, discribed by some as dark and obscure as well as poetic. Illusion and disillusions together with the remains of some universe, find their way on to a canvas.

A very personal touch in design and content make her works more than a superficial observation. They give us a glimpse into hers and maybe our soul.
(Frank Renette/Karel Hadermann).

Miraschi's boxes explore the strong symbol that is 'the heart' - home of the soul, a residence of energy, balancing in between worlds.
